March 31, 2020 | Posted in Trends, Weddings

Brides aren’t the only ones who can put on a beat face to enhance their looks on their wedding day. More and more grooms are invested in how they look for their big day. Wanting to look their best standing beside their bride-to-be and on camera, some guys decide they’d like to put on a little makeup. If you’re considering wearing makeup as a groom, there are a few things you’ll want to know to make sure it’s done right.

Start a Skincare Routine

Well before your big day, you want to start taking good care of your skin. Though makeup can be a miracle worker in hiding bumps, scars, and blemishes, the more you try to hide the more makeup you’ll need. Since most grooms want to keep their makeup simple and barely recognizable it’s a good idea to try and present a fresh face to your makeup artist. So, begin a skincare routine that includes washing, exfoliating, and moisturizing your skin daily.

Stay Hydrated

To achieve flawless, youthful, and clear skin you have to keep it moisturized from the inside out. That’s why for the next few weeks (or however long you have) water should be your beverage of choice. Not only does water help to keep your skin clean and moisturized, but it quickly helps to flush toxins and buildup that leads to breakouts and damaged skin. You should be drinking at least 8 glasses of water each day until your wedding.

Keep It Simple

A big makeup tip for grooms is to keep it simple. Whether you’re comfortable with wearing makeup or not, the idea isn’t to cake it on or to add dramatic effects. The idea is to give you an even-tone face for the day of your wedding. So, when working with your makeup artist be sure to tell them you want to keep it simple. Having a few test sessions and taking photos is recommended to ensure that you like how it looks before the big day.

Wearing makeup as a groom isn’t taboo. In fact, the right makeup can enhance your wedding day looks to give you that confidence you need to start a new chapter in your life. If you’re contemplating wearing makeup for your big day, just be sure to keep all the above-mentioned advice in mind for results you’ll be proud of.
