DIY Wedding and Reception Decoration Ideas

May 1, 2020 | Posted in Trends, Weddings

Are you looking to save money on your wedding? If so, doing some of the work yourself could slash your costs in half. Take, for instance, the wedding and reception decorations. Paying for a bunch of flowers, centerpieces, table numbers, and more can eat away at your budget. You can, however, save a ton of money by creating your own. Believe it or not, couples do this all the time and there are plenty of ideas you can use for inspiration. Here are just a few:

Wedding Bouquets

You can cut the cost of flowers for your wedding by making your own bouquets. There are a number of ways you can do this. One example would be to use synthetic flowers to create your bouquets. Whether you opt for plastic or silk, they come out looking really pretty and can be saved for years to come. Another option would be to think outside of flowers. As you can see from one of the bouquets above, paper pinwheels or pearls and jewels also make great bouquets.

Wedding Favors

You want to be able to give your guests a small token of appreciation for showing up to celebrate your wedding, but you don’t have to break the bank to do it. In fact, homemade wedding favors have a lot more meaning and cost a lot less. You can purchase some scented candles, tule, and ribbon and print your name and wedding date on clear labels. You could buy plastic bottles and fill them with colored sand, purchase tiny picture frames and give your guests each a picture of the bride and groom. The list goes on and on.

Centerpieces

Centerpieces really do bring a wedding reception to life. They are a core part of the decorations, but, also very expensive. Save yourself some money and create your own. You can purchase inexpensive candles and candle holders, clear vases and floating candles, make your own floral arrangements or use other decorative items like glitter, lights, cut out hearts, and whatever else you can think of to pull together a centerpiece that fits your wedding theme.

If you’re trying to shave a few extra bucks off your wedding expenses, making your own wedding and reception decorations is one way to go. There are plenty of craft ideas out there that are just as elegant as anything a professional would bring to the table. All you need is a bit of creativity and a few helping hands to assist you in getting it all done.
