Wedding S’mores and More: S’morigin Story!

March 31, 2015 | Posted in Mitzvah, Trends, Weddings

We are SO loving the make-your-own s’mores wedding trend, and we’re tickled pink to announce that our four top New Jersey wedding venues, including the Versailles Ballroom banquet hall in Toms River, are offering a S’More Love Station for weddings, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, and more. Brides and grooms are digging this grownup version of a childhood favorite, which includes cinnamon, chocolate, and classic grahams; gourmet chocolate selections; and adorable square marshmallows from our local bakery in flavors like vanilla, almond, and cookies & cream. YUM!

S'more Love Station

Now we’ve got s’mores on the brain, so we found a few s’more factoids to share with you. Enjoy! If you want a S’More Love Station at your wedding, just give us a call at 732-719-1206. Want more wedding dessert station ideas? Visit our Accessories page. (This blog post is best read next to a crackling fire, under the stars, with a sleeping bag and your lover’s arms to keep you warm… or in your office, when you’re supposed to be working. We won’t tell.)

Wedding Dessert Ideas

1. When were s’mores invented?

According to Hersheys.com, “The first printed S’mores recipe appeared in 1927 in the Girl Scout handbook called, Tramping [sic] and Trailing with the Girl Scouts.” In our modern parlance, that just sounds wrong! We recommend more camping, and less tramping.

2. What are s’mores named after?
Would-be s’more historians believe that s’mores got their name from a mashup of some and more. It’s the sound you make when asking “Can I please have some more?” with gooey, delicious marshmallow cementing your tongue to the roof of your mouth.

3. Wacky and irresistible iterations of s’mores throughout time:

S’mores Pop-Tarts – Have we eaten them cold? Yes. Are we ashamed of ourselves? Maybe.

Smorz and S’mores Grahams Breakfast Cereals – Part of a balanced breakfast.

Ben & Jerry’s S’mores Ice Cream – Yes, please!

4. Why are S’more Stations popular at weddings?

Answer A: S’mores and weddings go together like… well, like marshmallows, graham crackers, and chocolate. Our brides and grooms planning wedding receptions at our New Jersey wedding venues love this dessert idea for all seasons. Planning a fall or winter wedding? Warm up your guests with melty chocolate and gooey marshmallows toasted over river rocks and a flickering blue flame. Planning a summer wedding? Give your guests a whimsical treat that reminds them of summer camp and sneaking into each other’s bunks. Plus, anything bite-sized is a surefire hit at weddings.

Answer B: Pinterest

5. Best random s’more-related result from Wikipedia:
“For the musical indication abbreviated as smorz., see smorzando.”

Still obsessing? Here’s s’more info (get it?) for your reading pleasure. Happy planning!
